Coronary & Cardiovascular Risk Panel
FRAMINGHAM / JBS & BNF
What this is / isn't: This calculator implements three separately published, verifiable equations:
the Wilson et al. 1998 Framingham point score for hard CHD (Circulation. 1998;97(18):1837–47); the
D'Agostino et al. 2008 Framingham general CVD equation (Circulation. 2008;117:743–753); and the
Anderson et al. 1991 Framingham equation (Am Heart J. 1991;121:293–8) as adapted by the Joint British
Societies/BNF charts. All are population-derived statistical estimates, not diagnoses, and are known to
overestimate risk in many non-U.S. and modern populations. No calculator can be 100% accurate for an
individual — use this as a conversation starter with a doctor, not a substitute for one.
Not included: separate Framingham equations for MI, stroke, CVD death, and CHD
death, and the Scottish ASSIGN score. Their exact published coefficients sit behind paywalled tables (and
ASSIGN also needs family history, cigarettes/day, and a Scottish deprivation index this form doesn't collect),
so rather than guess at numbers for a health tool, they've been left out. Happy to add them if you can supply
the source tables.
